Petronas 'Water For Life' effort benefits over 14,000 residents

PADANG BESAR: The 'Water For Life' programme, an initiative by Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB), has benefited more than 14,000 residents across the country since it was introduced in 2013.
PDB managing director and chief executive officer, Datuk Mohd Ibrahimnuddin Mohd Yunus said the programme was part of efforts to ensure the people, especially those living in the interior areas would receive consistent supply of clean water.
"Through this programme under the company's corporate social responsibility, we together with the Malaysian Nature Society look for areas and villages facing clean water supply problem.
"Thus far, the programme has involved 14 selected areas across the country with about RM1.4 million already spent on it," he said when officiating at the 'Water for Life 2018' programme in Kampung Lubuk Machang, Chuping, near here, today.
Mohd Ibrahimnuddin said for this programme, two wells and four big tanks of 1,000-gallon capacity were provided, complete with a filtration system to ensure the water was safe for daily consumption by the villagers.
He said the allocation for each programme was RM80,000 to RM100,000, including the costs of providing the pipe system and other related facilities to channel the water supply. — Bernama
