Luxe Pack Monaco’s industry awards honoring ‘the most environmentally-friendly packing solutions’ in the industry have taken place, and the winners announced.

The ‘Luxe Pack in Green’ awards were split into two categories: the first for environmentally-committed packaging solutions, the second for corporate social responsibility. The winners have been announced as Bormioli Luigi with its ‘Ecojar’ in the packaging solution category, and Albea in the CSR approach category.

The event organisers state that Luxe Pack’s hosting of the green awards “underscores its role as mouthpiece for an entire industry which, year upon year, continues to rise to the challenges in order to offer the world's most prestigious brands packaging solutions in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.”

Prince Albert II of Monaco presented the awards, which took place during this year’s Luxe Pack Monaco trade show in the country in September.

Winning innovation

The winning Ecojar concept from Bormioli Luigi is an ultralightweight glass jar is innovative, according to the event organisers, because of the impressive reductions in weight and C02 emissions (50% and 60% respectively).

It is, they explain, “a new concept of ultralightweight glass jar, with patent pending, Ecojar is manufactured according to a press-and-blow glassmaking technique, taking inspiration from tableware manufacturing processes.”

Albea won in the CSR approach category, with the judges commending its 2020 roadmap, which lays out objectives for all Group personnel, and sets out strong collective objectives and commitments for any projects that involve external clients, suppliers, installations and communities.

Other innovations and efforts were also commended by the judges: in the packaging solution category, ARTORIA won special mention from the jury for its range of porcelain packaging for the Cha Ling brand, and the entries of the exhibitors SGD and Marvon impressed in the CSR category
