Tanta residents have free cataract surgery

TANJUNG, South Kalimantan: Tens of Tanta Subdistrict residents in Tabalong District, South Kalimantan, participated in a free cataract surgery held by PT Adaro Indonesia in collaboration with local health centers, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

The representative of PT Adaro Indonesia Leni Marlina in Tanjung, Friday, said the event was one of Adaro’s flagship programs through its corporate social responsibility.

“Cataract surgery is a leading and sustainable program as Adaro’s commitment to the community,” said Leni, who currently serves as CSR manager.

The event was also held to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of Bhayangkari Day (HKGB).

“Participants of cataract surgery should really maintain health and use postoperative eye patches for effective treatment,” said Chairwoman of Tabalong Police’s Bhayangkari Tanti Hardiono.

The opening of free cataract surgery, which targeting 60 participants, was attended by Regent Tabalong Anang Syakhfiani, District Secretary Abdul Muthalib Sangadji, Tabalong Police Chief AKBP Hardiono, Tanta Sub-district Head Rusmadi, and several other invitees.

One cataract patient who successfully underwent surgery, Muhammad Aulia, shared his experience with his left eye now back to normal.

Previously, Aulia was confused to prepare Rp10 million funds for cataract surgery to Banjarmasin.

“From the information of my friends I finally join the free cataract surgery program and now my eyesight is back to normal,” said Aulia.

Free cataract surgery program is also implemented in North Hulu Sungai with a target of 60 people and in East Barito (Central Kalimantan) for 43 patients.
