The Team Fiji contingent were urged to learn from the success of the Vodafone Fijian Bati rugby league side.

That was the message from the President Major- General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote highlighting the importance of hard work and keeping their faith.

The Kevin Naiqama-led Bati side beat New Zealand 4-2 last Saturday to face Australia in tonight’s Rugby League World Cup semifinal in Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia.

Team Fiji consist of 13 sporting organisations will represent the country at the Pacific Mini Games in Port Vila, Vanuatu next month.

President Konrote congratulated the players for being selected in the national team for their respective sports.

“I am informed that the Mini Games is an opportunity to test the skills of our young and upcoming athletes,” he said.

“It is nonetheless a high-level competition because you are competing with some of the best athletes in the Oceania region.”

President Konrote reminded the players that as national representatives, they have an obligation to perform to the best of their abilities and be good ambassadors for Fiji both on and off the field.

Team Fiji chef de mission Wayne O’Connor said they are aiming for the top spot. The team will depart the country on December 1 and return on December, 13.
