GUYANA suffered an 88-point blowout (24-112) at the hand of tournament favourites, Dominican Republic, in their final game at the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) women’s Caribbean Championship in Suriname on Tuesday.
Mariam McKenzie, Guyana’s leading scorer in the tournament finished the game with 12 points while Genille Ifill was the next best scorer with four points and eight rebounds.
Andreina Paniagua scored a game-high 28 points in the win for Dominican Republic who played The Bahamas in the second semi-finals last evening and Cuba and Barbados battled it out in the other semi-finals.
The Guyanese women will now return home after failing to impress at the tournament, which brought together some the best basketball players in the Caribbean.
