Famous American Armenian musician Serj Tankian has thanked the parliament of the Netherlands for recognizing Armenian Genocide.

“Thank you to the Dutch Parliament and to all our friends in the Netherlands for this,” Tankian noted. “The truth must always prevail irrespective of geopolitical demands and realpolitik. Part and parcel of this is not just a historical correction but also that the world is growing increasingly tired of [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan and his back-ass cronies.”

Lawmakers in the lower house of the Dutch parliament on Thursday approved the motion recognizing Armenian Genocide.

Acting Foreign Minister Sigrid Kaag, however, said that the Dutch government would not follow the parliament’s lead. Kaag says the Cabinet will “continue to exercise restraint.”

Acting Minister said that a Dutch cabinet member will be present in Yerevan in April at the commemoration of Armenian Genocide.
