Ankara has reacted to the Dutch parliament’s recognition of Armenian Genocide.

In its respective statement, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) condemned this decision by the legislature of the Netherlands, calling it “baseless” and not “legally binding,” reported Anadolu news agency of Turkey.

As reported earlier, lawmakers in the lower house of the Dutch parliament approved the motion recognizing Armenian Genocide.

Acting Foreign Minister Sigrid Kaag, however, said that the Dutch government would not follow the parliament’s lead.  Kaag says the Cabinet will “continue to exercise restraint.”

Acting Minister said that a Dutch cabinet member will be present in Yerevan in April at the commemoration of Armenian Genocide.
